Importance of Biodiversity
Biodiversity is very important in order to create a viable ecosystem for the polar bears because everything that is present in this ecosystem must work exactly how it should. For example if the plankton and micro-organisms stop getting the nutrients they need the ice seals will not get the nutrients they'd need creating a massive decrease in that species meaning that it would be very difficult for polar bears to find food to survive, which soon enough would result in extinction. As seen in the picture below, the food chain is very simple and if anything would be removed from it the whole food chain will collapse creating a major deficit in multiple species.
