Climate Change
Climate change is a major risk for polar bears due to the melting of polar ice caps. Polar bears spend most of their lifetime of these ice sheets, they are not simply a platform they are more complex to leave them with a platform that they can hunt, breed, live and sometimes create maternal dens. These ice sheets are complete ecosystems which are inhabited by plankton & micro-organisms which give off nutrients to the ice seals. It has become a major issue for polar ice caps to melt because polar bears rely on the ice to hunt & store their food for the summer & autumn when food is minimal. Now since the ice melts earlier and forms later, the polar bears health will decline as it spends a longer period of time without food. As the polar bears health declines this creates a lower reproduction rate which will further cause extinction.
